He will tell you that you can now hire Barbarian mercenaries to help you, and he will also give you 3 runes: Tal, Ral, and Ort. After you have released all of them, return to town and talk to Qual-Kehk. You must break open the gate to release them. In the Frigid Highlands you will find 15 captive Barbarians, in 3 groups of 5, held in wooden pens. He will tell you that his men are imprisoned on Mount Arreat, and ask you to find and release them. Speak with Qual-Kehk to activate the second quest. You cannot use any of these items: already socketed items, rune word items, items that don't allow sockets (belts, rings, gloves, amulets).Magic items will receive 1 or 2 sockets, Uniques, Set, Crafted, and Rare items will get 1 socket added. He will add the maximum number of sockets possible to the item you give him. Like the Charsi's Hammer quest in Act I, you can wait and socket your item later in the game, if you desire. Return to town, and Larzuk will socket an item for you. He will be found towards the end of the Bloody Foothills, surrounded by minions. that second one may not have aged as well, but still hilarious, imo.To activate this quest, talk to Larzuk the Blacksmith, and he will tell you that you have to prove yourself by killing Shenk. I would have loved to have seen the entire thread, but there were several forumites who posted screenies of thier entry, including the two winning items (also unfortunately, I did save them, but that HD burned out couple years back, and they were low priority for recovery.) unfortunately the squid ate it before I even joined and I only know it through a "Remember that tourney?" thread. On the old forum, quite some time ago, there was just such a tourney, with the simple goal of being the best joke, as voted by the rest of the SPF via a poll. I have some odd collection's, to be sure.
Gripphon's Griffin's Eye & WoRG's Wolfhowl spring directly to mind for the former, AnnaGoAnna's Cracked Sash being the ultimate for the latter. an old MFO trophy, or something from a char I thought was awesome. On the trading thing, I typically would devalue an item personalized, unless it was so awesome I just didn't care (a perfect runeword roll, or !!JACKPOT!!-tier rare/craft spring to mind) or if the personalization was in fact what I was after.
